The Long Story
The ‘Hippocratic Oath’ of medicine is ‘do no harm’ made famous by the father of modern medicine Hippocrates (460BC-377BC). This is supposed to be rule number one for the health care industry.

Interestingly however the use of prescription medication is the 3rd leading cause of death in the United States. Each year there are more than two million hospital admissions due solely to adverse drug reactions and 180,000 of them result in death. This is the shocking truth behind an overmedicated world.

I could go one about how you used to come back from the doctor with a shopping list of what to eat to get well from illness/disease instead of a prescription (because eating poorly only makes you fat, right? It can’t impact you health surely… It’s just bad luck when people get ill…), of which now 95% of all prescriptions written are taken for life… But I don’t wish to give focus and power to the already extreme conditioning about the relationship between illness and medication in our society. It gets enough.

But here is the truth: every decision you make, every second of the day, either adds to your health or takes away from you health – period.

For example, drink a lot of soft drink? You suffer from chronic inflammation which is the base condition of every chronic disease know to us. You’re insulin resistant, have early stage diabetes and store fat more and more easily over time. And if you don’t have any of these symptoms yet, you will. Only a matter of time.

What about happiness, are you happy at work? The physical and psychological environments we find ourselves in at work each day, contribute significantly to our mental health. When we feel great certain hormones are circulating in appropriate levels through the brain and body keeping us alert, vibrant and young! The opposite occurs if we’re in physical or psychological environment that are more ‘stressful’.

In both the above cases and all other cases, giving our bodies billions of cells (nerve cells, muscle cells, cardiac tissue cells, skin cells, etc, etc) exactly what they need nutritionally to function optimally is necessary everyday! And it’s so easily done… Not know isn’t god enough, nor is not caring or couldn’t be bothered. You shut down to your bodies needs and your body will shut down to yours sooner rather then later.

For well less than $5/day you can make major improvements to your health and well being. You’re energy levels and alertness. For sports people it's not even a question. Faster recovery, greater immuse system support, deeper more restful sleep and the like - feel great everyday.

Writer Mark Twain said ‘a lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is putting on it’s shoes’ so below are a few words of timeless wisdom from truly brilliant minds who are still putting on their shoes!

“Vitamins, if properly understood and applied, will help us to reduce human suffering to an extent which the most fantastic human mind would fail to imagine”
- Albert Szent-Gyorgyi (1893-1986) who won a Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine

“Optimal nutrition is the medicine of the future”
- Dr Linus Pauling: the only person in history to win two unshared Nobel Prizes

“From nature comes the disease, and from nature will come the cure”
- Paracelsus (1493-1541)

“Let thy food be thy medicine and thy medicine be thy food”
- Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine

And here’s the secret to all of this. Start now, right now.

The sooner you start the better. If you feel great already and question the need for yourself, you’re in the best position to stay that way by taking action now, before decline starts to happen. If you’re in decline, you’ve got to start now too, but start harder to get on top of things.
